'Dick and Barry and I agreed that what really matters is what you like, not what you are like...there was an important and essential truth contained in the idea, and the truth was that these things matter, and it's no good pretending that any relationship has a future if your record collections disagree violently, or if your favourite films wouldn't even speak to each other if they met at a party.'
(Nick Hornby, High Fidelity)

You're probably here for the fanfiction - I know I am, anyway. I set up this journal pretty much concurrently with the moment I realized that I loved Life on Mars way too hard to leave it alone, and have been writing fic (usually of the slashy, smutty persuasion) ever since. I've since branched off into a couple other fandoms here and there since - State of Play (the proper UK version, not the American movie rubbish), and Star Trek's Reboot 'verse (because someone has to write Pike/McCoy, really) - but the Sam/Gene isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

Because this fic-writing nonsense is strictly an escapist pastime in my otherwise drama-laden life, I like to keep this journal fairly light-hearted - I'm not one to divulge much RL-wise and I have little to no patience for fandom wank and the like (this is meant to be fun, yes?). What you'll find here is fic, rambling thoughts about fic still being written, and the odd squee over how gorgeous my various favourite playthings are.

That said, I do enjoy all the intelligent conversation I can get but prefer to keep my flist to a manageable size (I'm not running a hub nor a pub here, ta). As a rule I prefer to get to know people via comments at the various comms and so forth before I'll reciprocate on a friend request. I keep most of this LJ unlocked, so friend away if you're just looking to tap into the fic, but I'd rather know something about you before adding you to my flist.

(Also note: very fond of parentheses.)
